The Dagger - NCAAB

Sure, plenty of fan bases camp out for tickets. Duke's insane students have made their weeks-in-advance pregame tent parties a household name. But few fan bases, if any, would go to these lengths to prove their support: Kentucky fans are camping out for Midnight Madness tickets. I'm not joking:

That photo's taken from John Calipari's photo gallery, and that is just, I mean, I don't even know what to say about that. I really don't know whether to praise their dedication or chide them about their insanity. It's just a glorified practice, guys. Take it easy.

Whatever the verdict, I'm betting few Memphis fans, dedicated though they may be, ever did this much to prove their support. If he didn't realize it already, he does now: Calipari ain't in Kansas anymore.

Bonus: The tickets will be available online the exact same time they are available to the folks camping out.

I don’t think many of the UK fans camping out own a computer much less know how to use a computer to purchase tickets. The one or two UK fans that own computers will soon write, “Yer’ an ass,” or “moron,” or “idiot” and then post the damn thing three or four times because they don’t know how to use a computer. Nevertheless, they are dedicated fans.

...and the stereotype offered by #3 is typical fare from a UK hater... Yeah, you're about the 9687th person to make such a comment. Originality please douchebag, so I can at least laugh. Otherwise, it's just stale...

great...we're getting basketball wisdom (chiding?) from the father of Communism...maybe you should change your name to Friedrich Engels...UK is the apex to which all others aspire to be...has been that way for 60 years... of course, you could go camping in the woods by yourself...or camp out for Who tickets...Lefty Driesell may have started midnight madness, but Kentucky perfected it...that's why those folks are camping...have to make the final four this year to keep our record intact...and that record is being in at least one Final Four every decade since the 40's...no other school can even say they've been in the FF in 5 decades...again, to see the team that will expand that record is good enough reason for me as to why those folks are camping out....and Eammon, you still are a piss poor writer...UK has a great post-graduate English program you may want to look into...schmuck

    Gas,
You can not use Latin w/ Kentucky fans. Still you did call it!
"The weapon of criticism cannot, of course, replace criticism of the weapon, material force must be overthrown by material force; but theory also becomes a material force as soon as it has gripped the masses. Theory is capable of gripping the masses as soon as it demonstrates ad hominem, and it demonstrates ad hominem as soon as it becomes radical. To be radical is to grasp the root of the matter. But, for man, the root is man himself".
History is FUN!! Speaking of it, what did UK do last year? Watched Western Kentucky dance from home. New CHEAT/Coach should be great. UK does have an exceptional recruiting class, #1. Hopefully they all took their own SAT's. Maybe UK can be the 3rd school Cal can bring down. History also speaks of Chris Mills, Eddie Sutton, Calapari, Rose, and 1996 UMASS. Good Luck!

    PS
Chide-to speak out in angry or displeased rebuke, to scold. Perhaps you could enroll in some of those post graduate courses. Roger Daltrey did plenty chiding in his day: My Generation, Kids are Alright etc.

I really hate being the bearer of bad news but Kentucky (UK) missed making a final four appearance this decade. A very old Blue Grasser once told me that Kentucky used to be the team to beat. Now they’re the team nobody wants to lose to. That would be downright embarrassing.

I think you have your teams mixed up. UNC is the team that has been making at least one Final Four appearance each decade since the 40’s. That’s seven decades (a decade is a period of 10 years BTW). UCLA has also been making at least one Final Four appearance since the 60’s. I’m sure Indiana can also clam a long run likewise.

1.- Yes the tickets are available on ticketmaster.com, but that's a crap-shoot. If you're in line, you get a ticket, most likely lower level. On ticketmaster, if you get through, you're almost assuredly in the upper level. Of course, sometimes ticketmaster crashes. And sometimes you can't get through. And since the tickets have been gone in matter of minutes every year they've been available online (since 05-06, when they moved it to Rupp) if you can't get through quickly, you're SOL.
Besides, who are you all to decide how people should be spending their time? They're not hurting anyone, just hanging out with other people, having a good time and supporting a team they care about... like they do every year (this is nothing new, it's been going on for decades). The players have been there, playing cornhole, football and basketball and enjoying the scene with the fans. If I was still in Lexington, I'd be there, it's a great time.
But I guess it's not as "cool" or "productive" as whatever it is you're doing. (Which appears to be hanging out in front of a computer, making fun of people for not doing the same thing...)

Gas and K Marx are both extremely jealous of the BEST BASKETBALL PROGRAM OF ALL TIME! i would like to know which teams you like? Obviously they must not be much, since neither of you mentioned them! Don't be a hater! 7 National Championships, second only to UCLA. ALL TIME WINNINGEST PROGRAM, second to none. Kentucky is basketball. Always has been and always will be! Even on our down seasons such as last year, we still won 22 games. When we had Hall, Pitino and Smith everyone dogged them as well! Sure Gillespie was not cut out for U.K., but he still had a winning record here. Do you two SCHMUCKS ( an obnoxious or contemptible person.) think that Sutton and Calipari are the only coaches who break rules. Give me a break! Every coach does. Some get caught and some don't! It just goes to show that the University of Kentucky is the TOP basketball program-BAR NONE or you two SCHMUCKS would not be talking about them so much. Please let your teams win more National titles! Even if you are a UCLA fan it won't be long before that record falls to the way side for Kentucky to. Cry me a river!

Man I love all the haters that are on here. If you hate Kentucky Basketball then why are you taking the time of day to read an article about their freaking practice?!?! I don't read pointless articles about teams I dislike. You all must not have much going on....and obviously don't have any articles to read about your wanna be teams! Just face the fact that we're back on top and the rest of the country is jealous!
