Washington Huskies guard Isaiah Thomas has a chance to be one of the best at his position in 2009-10. The Huskies are going to have a fast, versatile backcourt, and Thomas is the most gifted scorer in it. If Romar decides to play uptempo, Thomas -- an insanely quick perimeter guard with a great pull-up jumper -- could receive a big statistical boost from more possessions, and those kind of statistical boosts help get players like Thomas enough money to dine on Pop Tarts for the rest of their lives. Yep, it's all coming together.

And hey, if it doesn't work out, Thomas can always just go ahead and play football, right? According to Thomas, anyway. This isn't just a passing fancy, either. Thomas has mentioned his desire to play football before, most recently at this year's Huskies media day:

--- Isaiah Thomas said he'll consider jumping to the NBA if he receives assurances that he'll be a high first-round pick. Thomas also said, he might consider going out for football. He hasn't spoken to Romar or coach Steve Sarkisian, but said he's been thinking about it the past few days. Thomas was unsure which position he would play, but said he's played football his entire life so it wouldn't be that difficult.

OK, so maybe things wouldn't be that easy -- Michael Jordan had played baseball his entire life, and look how that worked out -- but it's nice to have options in this world, isn't it? Sick of basketball? Play Division 1 football! Why not, right?

considering how IT plays basketball, he'd be a pass interference machine in football (especially on offense).

but MJ did a hell of a lot better than 99% of the world would at baseball after being out of it for 10+ years... You can bag on him all you want for his batting average, he still hit better than anyone on these boards would. Including me.
People don't realize how hard it is to hit a round ball, with a round bat when the guy throwing it is trying to strike you out. 12 year olds can hit 85 in a batting cage, it isn't hard when you know its coming and its down the pipe.

Nate Robinson did it at UW. He was a starting cornerback as a true freshman, then decided to concentrate on basketball. It worked out alright for him.

Kelvin Grady saw his minutes decrease at Michigan, and he switched right into the regular rotation at slot receiver at Michigan. Obviously a bit rusty, but he's been very serviceable.

He should stick to the court, at his size he would get hurt playing footbal. Ask Kansas players how tough the football team is.

Grady's minutes decreased because he wasn't a good basketball player.
