Ever wanted to see Bob Knight, Rick Pitino, Mike Krzyzewski, and Roy Williams dancing around in their boxer shorts? Neither did I. But the end result, to the great credit of whatever ad agency produced it, is rather hilarious.
Maybe I find it particularly amusing, though, because I really would like to see Bob Knight scold Lars Ulrich like he was a little boy. But that's just me.
Other little touches that were brilliant: the slightly awkward end of Bob Knight's old-man sock slide, and the inclusion of the word "the" in the sentence, "We're playing the Guitar Hero." Everyone's performance grades out really well, in fact. Roy Williams, in a mild upset, probably shows the most funk, Rick Pitino looks like a hyperactive little kid banging on a drum, and Coach K is appropriately goofy and overexcited.
It's a perfect example of quality NCAA tournament advertising. I've only seen it once, it's hysterical, and I'll remember it. Well done, Guitar Hero people.
Gracias, First Cuts.

First, you go all Tom Cruise in "Risky Business" and pantsless...
Second, you get dissed by Lars Uhlrich...
Can being chased down a corridor by Fatso Alan Cutler be far behind? Gonna LOVE to see how Knight reacts to THAT!!!
Seriously, it's not as good as the Heidu Klum one, but I enjoyed it. And now, Roach K and Pitino have a lot of free time to do more ads...right through to next November!

#11 - You are also douche-like, in that you critique MJD for not blogging about ball when he had three other posts today, two of which were within HALF an hour of the "offending" Knight & Co. commentary. You, sir (madam?), should return to getting your info from the newspaper, which won't upset your tender sensibilities and will arrive but once a day....
In other news, I missed the ad (don't know WHY I wouldn't be watching, say, UNC blow out Chokelahoma) on TV, so appreciated seeing it here... MJD, I think the charming use of the definite article (THE Guitar Hero) may have been borrowed from Letterman: "Hey, kids! Ya like the Rock 'n Roll?!" charming, tho'...

Admittedly, this article wasn't too bad. But anyone who has read his NFL "blogs" will tell you that this is one seriously inept, biased, unprofessional tool. And Yahoo! should be embarrassed to have him on the payroll. This clown wouldn't last a day in the real world of professional journalism. The true talent is in the NBA section. J.E. Skeets (usually) knows what he's talking about, and his insight can actually be pretty insightful... can't say the same about "MJD."
