Extra Onions is a roundup of college hoops stuff from around the 'Webs. As always, email or follow me on Twitter to send along links I should see.

• Myles Brand is back, sort of. Brand made his first public appearance in months -- he was diagnosed with cancer in January -- on Sunday night to discuss the merits of helping others, according to the AP wrap on the subject. The real news is how gaunt Brand looks. This is a sick man, and so any and all criticisms of his tenure as NCAA president can wait for now. For now it's just cool to see him out and about. [Sports Illustrated]

• Just last week, Chris crowned Ed O'Bannon the No. 1 NBA bust of all-time in our Rags to Riches feature, and with good reason. Last week, O'Bannon started blogging. Coincidence? Probably! [Lost Lettermen]

• John Calipari takes his first SEC coaches teleconference. This is apparently a newsworth event in and of itself. [Straight Pinkie]

• Speaking of Kentucky, here's the latest on the Gillipsie lawsuit. One side or the other wants the other side to be dismissed. Or something. I didn't read much of the story because I didn't want my soul to corrode. [Associated Press]

• According to Gary Parrish, if you have talent, the NBA draft will find you no matter how obscure your school. Which is exactly like the sports blogosphere, only I can't find a metaphorical basketball equivalent for [insert picture of girl here]. [Gary Parrish]

• The Louisville Courier-Journal's Eric Crawford tells us a fond down-home tale about a minor recruiting violation the likes of which ought to be written out of the NCAA rulebook. It starts with a song. It probably helps to imagine bango music. [Louisville Courier-Journal]

• And last but not least, SI's Luke Winn reports live from the NBA draft, where Rick Pitino and John Calipari were supposed to sit side-by-side. God, that would have been awesome. [Sports Illustrated]
