If you thought Terrence Williams' line was good ... Last night was a pretty regular Tuesday night. The college basketball slate was OK, but not mind-blowing, and you could be forgiven if you skipped out to do a little grocery shopping, or something. People do need their groceries. But if you did skip out, what you missed wasn't regular or OK at all. In fact, you missed one of the great shooting performances in the history of college basketball. Kentucky's Jodie Meeks scored 54 points -- a UK school record -- by shooting 10-for-15 from three and 14-of-14 from the free throw line. His tempo-free numbers were just as impressive: his effective field goal percentage was (get this) 90 percent. Ninety! For his trouble, he dealt Tennessee its second home loss in the past month, laying waste to a Volunteer team that needs some serious improvement if it still has eyes for a conference title (or, for that matter, a deep tournament run).

Steve Lavine and Brent Musberger pull Hoosier duty. Like I said, last night's basketball action was nothing to get too excited about. That especially goes for an Indiana-Ohio State matchup that, from its very outset, was going to be an easy Ohio State win. The last five halves of Indiana basketball (the second half at Michigan; Saturday at Illinois; and last night) have been utterly pitiful, and so one ironclad announcer rule has congealed around the team: Don't say anything bad about the Hoosiers. Instead of being plainly awful at basketball, IU is "inexperienced." If they make a slight improvement, they're "growing." If they actually play well -- this isn't a frequent concern -- "they're learning to compete." And, above all, "Tom Crean has this team working really hard." It's not that those things aren't true ... just that they're telltale signs of how bad Indiana actually is. Every criticism of the Hoosiers is in coded language. To plainly say "man, they are awful," on the air would be like picking on the kid with the lisp. Not only is it too easy, it's obvious to everyone else already. And it makes you a horrible person.

Everywhere else: Remember when Memphis was tearing through the C-USA last year? This year, not so much: The Tigers needed a last-second shot to get by Tulsa ... Florida State, a quiet 13-2 heading into ACC play (they're now 1-1 in the conference) used a late run to stretch away from N.C. State in Raleigh, and the Seminoles just might make things interesting for the non-Wake/Duke/UNC members of the Atlantic Coast ... Michael Beasley is not walking through that door (nor, for that matter, is Bill Walker) ... The President will be pleased: Bradley recovered from the single most embarassing Internet video I've ever seen -- and I consider myself a connoisseur of the medium -- to get a win over in-state rival Northern Illinois. And we're out to win ... the MVC!

Congratulations to Jodie Meeks! Very intense game. Kentucky has a great chance of going all the way to the final four this year, hopefully even winning it all! Go Big Blue!!!

Great Job JODIE! Alot of people here will try to take away from your moment in the spotlight but pay no attention.
People better pay attention to Kentucky. These guys are starting to play well together and it's a pleasure to watch. Big Blue fans have been waiting as patiently as we can and it is paying off. WE'll cheer on the Big Blue and Jodie no matter what happens and know that we are proud of the Wildcats! National player of the year: Jodie Meeks.
Check it out ESPN made last night's game and instant Classic and it will replay today.
