Want to know what doesn't matter? (Or, in the case of college football, shouldn't matter?) Coaches' polls. Want to know what matters even less? Preseason coaches polls. And yet fans can't help but write about and discuss their favorite team's placement in their conference's unimportant preseason coaches' poll. These are grist for the preseason churn, and that's it.

So, with that sunny caveat out of the way, I give you ... the Big East preseason coaches' poll. Loud noises!

That looks about right. You could maybe argue that Georgetown deserves slightly more respect, and I'd also be comfortable with West Virginia moving slightly lower on the board (much of their success this year will require a breakout from Devin Ebanks, and breakouts are a fickle thing), but yeah, this looks OK? But if there are gripes, I'm sure you'll levy them in the comments. Anyone feeling disrespected?

1st, not disrespected but Jamie Dixon's squads deserve much more respect after all he has accomplished with a program that is stuck in a city that has little love for college sports compared to some of the other programs in the conference.
The Panthers always find a way to scratch and claw (no pun intended) their way to the top of the Big East rankings and into the Top 25 at some point no matter how desimated we might think they are.

How does DePaul only get 15 points from 16 voters? Did someone just forget that they're in the conference? Can't blame them.

@Martin H so a city that has a season ticket waiting list 3000 deep for college basketball has little love for college sports? Quit being such a jagoff, they have sold out EVERY SINGLE GAME EVER at the Peterson. Pitt Football was sold out the first two years at Heinz field and is coming back now that the team is returning to form. But I would agree with you that they should be higher since any team coached by Jamie Dixon is good for at least 20 wins overall and 10 Big East Conference wins. Don't beleive me? Look it up

Coaches can't vote for their own teams. That's how they only got 15.

Syracuse will win, no doubt about it. Andy Rautins=best 3-point shooter in the country! Rick "Action" Jackson and Arinze "AO" Onuaku along with top transfer of the year Wesley Johnson complete the best frontcourt in the nation! We may only have sleeper Brandon Triche at the point, but with Antonio "Scoop" Jardine, Mookie Jones, Kris Joseph, James Southerland, and DaShonte Riley, we got a deep still talented team. How often do you lose 4 guys out of your top 7 like SU just did losing Jonny Flynn, Eric Devendorf, Paul Harris, and Kristof Ongenaet and still be at Top 25 team and near the top of the Big East? Jim Boeheim always has his teams ready to go! GO ORANGE!

WVU is going to be for real !! People don't realize how great of a coach Huggins is. ANYONE and EVERYONE who wants to truely be a top 10 pick, will sign with him. He told Beasly to stay @ KSU, since he was already enrolled there ! " Hugg's " is nasty and WVU is slowly but surely going to be a Final 4 Team, for years to come !!
