Cal State Northridge head coach Matt Curtis hired the first member of his coaching staff, and it's former Major League Baseball pitcher Tim Leary.

Leary most recently was pitching coach at Loyola Marymount in 2006. He also spent five seasons as pitching coach at UCLA from 1997-2000 and again in '04.

In addition to his role as pitching coach for the Matadors, Leary also will help Curtis in recruiting and fundraising.

Leary brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the diamond.

Northridge still has another full-time assistant to announce.
