The college baseball community was put in a frenzy late last week when Pat Murphy decided to resign as head coach after 15 seasons with the program.
More details are emerging about the situation surrounding his removal.
But perhaps the most puzzling aspect of this whole deal is Arizona State's treatment of its student-athletes.
Three things have yet to happen.
• Pat Murphy didn't meet with his team before or after resigning as coach of the Sun Devils. This apparently made the players furious.
• Arizona State athletic director Lisa Love didn't address the team immediately before or after the resignation. She has yet to address the team.
• Arizona State president Michael M. Crow also has yet to address the team.
In other news, at least one member of Murphy's staff also is on his way out. The staff member isn't former assistant Andy Stankiewicz, who left early last week to pursue a job with the Seattle Mariners.
This situation is far from over. Stay tuned.
