Scouting Report on Eric Reid

How we scouted: Film footage, In-person visits, Game setting, Campby Barry Every - 08/25/2009
  • SpeedDivision I Player
  • SizeBlue Chip
  • StrengthDivision I Player
  • AgilityDivision I Player
  • Ball SkillsBlue Chip
On the Hoof: Tall, rangy athlete with long arms and a frame that may eventually carry 230 pounds. Reid would be considered an NFL-sized safety right now.
Needs Improvement: Could improve speed a tad and do a better job of wrapping up on tackles.
Most Impressive: He possesses excellent ball skills and does a very good job reading run or pass. Reid is a high-effort player that is very coachable and very smart.
Conclusion: He is another player that should have an early impact on special teams. He possesses the versatility to either become a strong or free safety in college. There is an outside chance he could grow into an outside linebacker. His cerebral approach to the game may give him an edge when battling for playing time.

Barry Every is a Football Recruiting Analyst for Rivals.com. He has worked in the recruiting offices for Mark Richt at the University of Georgia, Bobby Bowden at Florida State University and Mack Brown at the University of North Carolina
