On the Hoof: Martin is built like a small linebacker or big running back. He should physically remind fans of Oklahoma freshman Tony Jefferson.
Needs Improvement: He is slow to react when the ball is snapped while in man coverage. Martin could improve flexibility in his hips. He also lacks ideal height for a safety coming in a hair under 5 feet 11.
Most Impressive: This is a downhill player that is not afraid of contact. He deciphers run/pass very quickly and is able to make tackles for little gain. Martin also possesses good ball skills and knows what to do with the ball once he catches it.
Conclusion: His skill set is ideal for kick coverage as he has the speed and the killer instinct to crush ballcarriers. Martin should redshirt while he improves his cover skills, but sometimes it’s hard to keep a true slobber-knocker off the field.
