- Lateral PursuitBlue Chip
On the Hoof: Wide-shouldered athlete who is similar in size to Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes defensive end Corey Miller with a tremendous overall body structure.
Needs Improvement: Smith will be considered a bit undersized for a defensive end and will need to add more muscle mass and overall size to compete against quick-footed linemen.
Most Impressive: Very, very fast of the edge with the ability to blow by most offensive tackles. He also possesses the athleticism to move in space and may play some linebacker. Smith is also a very tenacious, high-effort kid that is great in pursuit.
Conclusion: Young, athletic pass-rushers have a tendency to see playing time early in their careers either on special teams or passing situations. Early playing time will depend on how impressive he is early on in camp.
