Tray Allen

Allen is very explosive off the football, gets and stays low with good leverage and plays physical. He’s agile enough to pull and get out in front and to the second level while he has a solid base as a pass protector. He can play tackle or guard in college and is very strong, although guard looks to be a better fit for him. Allen is a road grader but has very light feet which allow him to avoid pileups and get downfield. He gets a strong punch off the line is an absolute mauler in the run game, locking up a defender and using his strong leg drive to put them out of the play or on their back. Allen loves to hit and plays to the whistle, the kind of hustler who doesn’t give up on a play and is always working to keep his block or get downfield for another. Allen is very good at adjusting to moving targets and not over committing. He gets off the ball well but his strength is when he engages a defender. Allen has very strong hands and is so sudden that he often hits defenders off balance and wins the leverage battle easily. He’s an aggressive pass blocker, preferring to attack at the line of scrimmage before taking any backward steps. He’s also perfected an odd pass protection technique where he leads the pass rusher outside with his left hand and clubs them to the ground with a roundhouse right hand to the upper back. Allen clearly has a defensive mentality on offense.
