Scouting Report on Reginald Delk

by Jerry Meyer - 08/14/2004
Thin and athletic, Reginald Delk is a tremendous scorer who can put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways. A strong competitor with a very good feel for the game, Reginald only needs to add strength to be an impact player on the high major level.

Jerry Meyer serves as a national scout and recruiting analyst for Rivals.com. He played at Lipscomb University where be became college basketball's all-time career assist leader. Meyer earned Mr. Basketball honors in the state of Tennessee as a high school junior and senior. He has served as an assistant coach at Vanderbilt and also co-authored the book, "Basketball Skills and Drills."

With the departure of Winsome Frazier and Gary Ervin, and Jamall Edmondson going into his senior campaign, both guard slots were a high priority this recruiting season. The State coaches filled this need nicely by adding one player at each position, then picking up a late commitment from a combo guard that can play either slot. Mississippi State assistant coach Phil Cunningham talks about what each player brings to the table.
