Lateek Townsend

On the Hoof: This linebacker has the look of a big strong safety. His shoulders are wide and he has muscular yet athletic legs giving him excellent closing speed. His build is similar to Texas true freshman Aaron Benson.
Needs Improvement: Townsend will need to become more disciplined at the next level. He has been allowed to line up all over the field to wreak havoc. That is fine against high school players, but at the next level offensive coordinators will take advantage of his aggressiveness. He will also need to add about 25 pounds of muscle mass to hold up against a power running game.
Most Impressive: He disrupts offensive plays before they even start. He excels as a pass rusher and has enough speed to catch plays from behind. Townsend has good ball skills and turnovers could become touchdowns quickly.
Conclusion: You can't teach football players to thrive on contact and this guy is made to become a special teams demon. Look for him to earn his way into the starting lineup by his second season.
